“Together we stand, divided we fall” is an adage that underscores the importance of unity. This desire for a united front birthed the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) as a common platform for the collective representation of students in decision-making. The SRC became a force to reckon with in the era of military dictatorships as they voiced the concerns of the masses.
Today, the SRC has grown to embrace many more responsibilities and is considered a development partner, in addition to the earlier mandate of representing the students’ interests. Seventh-day Adventist College of Education Agona-Ashanti’s SRC concerns all aspects of students’ welfare within the college. In addition to that, it coordinates the activities of academic, cultural, religious, political, and recreational clubs and societies. It also links students with external organizations.
Immediately an individual becomes a registered student of the seventh day Adventist College of Education, that person automatically becomes a member of the SRC. Therefore, all students are eligible and encouraged to participate in one or more of the various programs and events of the SRC.
Seventh-day Adventist College of Education is a constituent organization of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), which coordinates all aspects of students’ activities nationally and internationally. The SRC President represent the students on the College Council and helps channels students interest and grievances for any decision making. The SRC body has its aims and objectives which are well documented for the interest of the student body.
In serving the interests and welfare of the student body, the SRC serves as the intermediary between the students, college authorities and the outside world as a way of fostering strong relations amongst them. The SRC serves as the official mouthpiece for the student as they communicate the interests of the student and the college as a whole.
All students are therefore entreated to participate fully in all the activities of the SRC as you enjoy your stay here in this great institution.
