The Department of Mathematics/Information and Communication Technology(ICT) came into existence during the establishment of the Seventh-day Adventist College of Education, Agona-Ashanti. It continued its operations during the migration of Colleges of Education from Diploma in Basic Education to Degree in Basic Education awarding institutions.
The department has devoted a lot of time and effort to assisting the college with the following programs: 4 – year basic education bachelor’s degree, 3 – year basic education diploma| and a 3-semester sandwich program. The department prepares basic school teachers in Ghana with pedagogical knowledge, computer literacy, and information literacy skills for teaching mathematics and ICT in basic schools.
This department is made up of the two sub-sections known as Mathematics and ICT. The first HoD was Mr. Kuttin Boateng (2013-2018), followed by Miss. Matilda Adusei Sarpong (2018-2019), Mr. Stephen Addai (2019), Mr. Andrew Owusu-Hemeng (2019-2020) from the Mathematics unit. He was succeeded by the current HoD, Madam Pulcheria Serwaa from the ICT unit of the department.
